Acquiring a French Bulldog - Category of Breeders

First of all, let's us see what a dog breeder really mean. Websters defines this as "n: a person who breeds animals [syn: stock breeder]", which depart an awful lot of room for scope.

For our purposes, we're going to divide breeders into the subsequent categories, and then argue each one in further detail:

Backyard Breeders
People who bred their attractive pet to someone else's attractive pet to make more pretty pets

Commercial Breeders - aka Puppy Mills
Also called 'puppy mills', though don't assume this means they are all dirty, as some commercial breeders keep services which are quite clean.

Import Brokers
I am adding up this so we can make clear one definite point - if the person selling the puppies did not whelp the litter themselves, they are NOT a breeder - they are a broker. Many will try to mislead you on this position.

Ethical Breeders
Also called Show Breeders, Hobby Breeders, Competitive Breeders or 'Pedigree Obsessed Freaks'. Clearly put, unless you are approving from a rescue, this is the just a source that we support or encourage you to get a puppy from.
