Urgent Call for enhanced Dog Laws - Animal Welfare group

Groups call on Prime Minister for enhanced dog laws: Some of the UK’s biggest animal charities, law enforcement agencies and unions on August 24 Tuesday jointly called on the leaders of the main political parties to work mutually to introduce improved and updated legislation to guard dog welfare and public safety.

The 20 groups have come together to order action against irresponsible dog owners by the Government and the provision of essential resources for those tasked with policing dog manage laws.

It comes ahead of the abstract of responses from Defra’s consultation on dog legislation which is predictable this autumn.

The consultation established more than 4,000 responses by the time it closed in June, indicating the scale of attention in the subject.

The declaration will be sent to Prime Minister David Cameron MP, Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg MP and acting leader of the conflict Harriet Harman MP.

The speech says: “We believe that irresponsible dog ownership, whether it is allowing dogs to stray, be dangerously out of control or indiscriminately breeding them, causes significant problems for the safety and welfare of both humans and animals. Current legislation is proving inadequate in many cases to ensure sufficient protection.

“We believe that both the provision of sufficient resources at a local level for local authorities and the police, and updated and consolidated legislation that has a genuine preventative effect, are needed to address this problem.

“We call on the coalition Government to act and bring forward legislation that addresses these areas effectively.”

How To Prefer A French Bulldog Breeder

You have to be really careful and be well-informed when buying a French bulldog as is a long term acquisition and the dog is going to be your proud possession for the next ten to twelve years. You can quite often be misled by the glib talk of the local pet shop owner into making a wrong choice. To avoid this, and to make a right choice, you will have to do some research on the qualities of a bulldog with all available information.

The first obvious step is to identify a good French bulldog breeder. Many owners consider breeding their French bulldog as a business proposition and are driven by commercial greed. The breeder has to be reliable and honest in his dealings. In fact even a family dog owner who owns a female French bulldog is a potential breeder when he decides to takes his bitch out for crossing.

You should be in a fit position to ask the breeder some critical questions and also know what the right answers are. For instance, you should be familiar with the general health problems of bulldogs and ask the French Bulldog Breeder pointed questions. Only healthy dogs that meet the breed standards should be allowed to mate.

Dog lovers know hip dysplasia is a common occurrence in bulldogs. If you ask the French bulldog breeder any query relating to this particular disorder, the breeder should be able to produce the OFA hip ratings of both parents of the French bulldog.

It is expected that French bulldog breeders follow a set of ethical rules while breeding. They must ensure that the male and female bulldogs that are to cross, thoroughly examined by a qualified Veterinarian for any genetic disorders. The responsible French bulldog breeder should not allow the mating of closely related bulldogs. As a matter of fact, the population of French bulldogs is rather small and thus there is every chance of incestuous breeding.

The mating should only take place when the dogs are in a relaxed mood and not when they are neurotic or hyperactive. A French bulldog breeder will allow sufficient and reasonable amount of time between two mating sessions of a particular bitch.

A responsible French bulldog breeder will take pride in his pups and will testify for the quality of his pups and even offer a replacement should the pup develop any genetic disease later on. They make a careful assessment of their puppies and sell them either as bulldogs fit for show and for breeding or as pets. The true French bulldog breeder will never shy away from letting you see his puppies and will never put up for sale defective puppies.

French bulldogs are compact, muscular dogs with a smooth coat, solid bone structure and a pug nose. A valued companion and a trusted watchdog, the French bulldog stands 11 to 12 inches tall and ideally weighs around 26 pounds. His head is large and square with round sharp eyes. The tails is short and either straight or screwed. Their skin is quite soft making them very appealing pets.

It is prudent to consult local kennels, dog clubs and bulldog owners before selecting a good breeder as any indiscretion will make you end up with a wrong pet.

Puppy training tips for a 5 week old puppy – Need to learn

Routine is the most essential aspect of training. From the beginning, feed 4 times per day, at the same times, and put the bowl up in 5 minutes, or when ended. A puppy will need to go just minutes after intake, so whisk her outside, and stay with her UNTIL SHE 'goes’. Provide her lots of praise when she does her job, play a few minutes, and appear back in... If you can extend down a bag of sand, from a garden middle, it will give her a good place to go, so you can kind of aim her there, and not now all over your yard.. She should only require going poop after eating, and maybe at bedtime... However, she will need water down at all times, and need to pee regularly. So, outside every extra hour for that..and keep a close eye on her. She will need to go through active play, and every time she wake up from a nap..If you watch her, you will see her acting fidgety, and sniffing the floor, etc when she needs to go. At first, peeing may be just a matter of pausing, and uh-oh, there it is. She won't even be alert...So it’s vital to never scold her for peeing...***this is what makes traumatized pups that refuse to pee outside, or try to hide it in the house. As they get scolded for it, and it becomes a traumatic event***... Keep the product, Nature's Miracle, on hand, for moment cleaning of pee spots...or ask your pet supply which enzyme cleaner they advise.. Puppies working only allow them to hold pee for about 1 hour per month of age...so expecting any more is idealistic. A good reason for a playpen or crate at night.. She may hold it through the night, but is likely to need to pee at least once during the night. You can take out the water a pair of hours before bedtime.. By following a routine, and being ever alert for the first few days, you can have her petty well taught in just a couple of weeks..or less I house-train all of my pups before they ever go away my home, and I do it an entire litter at a time..it usually takes about 4-5 days, with very few accidents, before they are asking to be let out.. But, if you fall a little bell on the door, or a desk bell on the floor, and show her you are humming the bell each time you take her out, she is likely to begin ringing the bell when she needs to go..Just be very watchful, and yet stay relaxed..an accident doesn't mean failure.. Consider, it takes forever to potty train a human baby, and it is so nice that puppies can learn it so much quicker, but they are still acceptable to be babies, and don't deserve to be harassed about the training... If you have important areas to keep clean, just keep her away from those areas awaiting she is a bit older.. I suggest using a soft step-in type harness for the walking and lead training, as it is less scary and stressful. eventually, as trust is developed, you can switch to a collar..but a soft attach takes the fear away from the beginning...Walking stimulates the bowels to move, more so than just putting the dog out..

Main 10 Tips to captivating the Best Photos of Our Furry Little French Bulldog Buddies

french bulldog
For many of us, our french bulldogs are division of our family, and as such, are a lot the subject of our photographs. It’s not as easy photographing dogs, and we’re often dissatisfied with the results.

No theme whether you use a digital SLR or a dense camera, there are steps you can take to make sure you get the best likely photos of your furry friend.

  1. Use some time training your dog. It’s much easier to get a excellent photo if your dog will sit, stand, drop and stay when he’s told. You can use a shrill toy to get a lovely alert expression on his face, but it doesn’t work at all if he hasn’t been taught to stay. Also, if he’s had some training, you’ll feel much more secure if you want him photographed without a collar and leash. But, keep in mind to keep it fun. They should see that camera arrive out and think it is a game!

  2. Have your dog groomed to excellence. If you’re going to spend the time taking photos of him, make sure he’s clean, his hair is trimmed and he seems his very best. Bring along a washcloth or some clean to wash his muzzle just in case he drools a little.

  3. Choose a nice place for the photos. A park or a patch of forest is both good options. The beach or river is one more favorite place, but make sure your dog doesn’t go for a swim before you’re ended photographing him. Check the background and make sure there are no objects in the way; you don’t want the form of trees growing out of your dog’s head.

  4. Make sure you know how to use your camera. If the setting is very bright, your dog will appear very dark in the photos. In this case, you can force your flash to work, and light up your dog too. You’ll get a a lot better photograph. Read your camera manual, and practice. Most cameras these days have some sort of zoom capacity. Using a zoom length of at least 80mm will allow you to stay a sensible distance from your dog, and avoid curious nose prints on your lens.

  5. Get some help. It’s very difficult to place away from your dog and take a photo, as well as tell him to stay, support an alert expression, and change the direction of his gaze. You’ll have much more fun in your photography session if there’s someone taking care of him while you’re at the other end of the camera.

  6. Take lots of photos and be patient. The real benefit of digital photography is that there’s no film being used, and it doesn’t cost something to take hundreds of photos. Having said that, it’s still a good idea to wait and think before taking a shot. Take a couple of seconds to make sure the wind isn’t blowing fur across your dog’s face, he’s looking in the right direction, and the background is attractive. When everything is just right, snap LOTS of photos. You will have lots of good photos, and with a bit of luck a couple of great ones!

  7. If likely, photograph your dog in the shade. This avoids dark shadows and harsh highlights, which can be difficult for your camera’s routine exposure system to work with. It will also avoid photos where your dog is squinting. You’ll find the best light for photography is early in the morning or late in the afternoon.

  8. Squat or lie down so you’re at your dog’s level, rather than photograph him from above. Fill the frame with the part you want to photograph, whether it’s just his head or the whole body. Another good angle is to get down low and photograph upwards against the sky or some trees. It turns out great, but again, you may need to force your flash to fire to avoid your dog turning out dark in your photos.

  9. Keep an eye on his head point. Although dogs don’t mind their noses appearing big in photos, you will get a more attractive likeness if he’s looking forty-five degrees to the side. Try it and you’ll agree, it’s much nicer than a photo that’s taken when he’s staring directly at the camera.

  10. Don’t leave your photos in your camera: have your good ones written, or even enlarged for your wall. If you want to be more creative, try some of the great digital scrap booking software that’s obtainable. Add backgrounds, text and decorations, and create a real work of art.
It does take practice to improve your taking photographs, but if you follow these ten steps, you’ll have photos of your dog that will take pleasure of place on your wall.
