There are some reasons that you pay extra for French Bulldog puppies. (Imagine to pay between $2,000.00 to $10,000.00..or MORE for a strong Bulldog puppy). The main being the fact that bulldogs are not simple to breed. It is unusual to find a male that can obviously rise a female (due to body formation), and a female that can whelp her puppies without a c-section (due to big heads). What this means is there are some steps, and a set of veterinary cost, and special paperwork, just to get your female pregnant. I am talking, aim testing to see if the female is ready, semen removal from the male, once she is ready, false or surgical implantation, and regular check ups and especially sounds to make sure all is well. Providing all went well you still have the c-section, and the pup confirms to make sure all are healthy, and there are none that need instant veterinary attention, or need medication (bulldog puppies have a high mortality price, and bulldogs are known to include water puppies). Now you get to take your drowsy mom and her new waste home.
Where you obtain to play mom for the first 2 wks, as bulldogs have a tendency to non intentionally crush their babies. So for 4 wks you are up each two hours putting puppies in with mom so they can provide for. You sit and look at while they feed, making sure that all is well, none are in risk, and they are all eating well, so you do not end up having to bottle feed. Confidently your female has enough, and good milk or you end up feeding numerous puppies, or the whole litter. All this point and expense, and you may only have a litter of 2-4 puppies, or you can lose the whole litter and have to remain for your females next cycle to try all over again. This is the major reason why Bulldogs are so pricey.
